For those of you fortunate enough to grow up in the 80s, you might recall the musical hit The Roof is on Fire by Master Scott and the Dynamic Three. This song was played at every single dance I attended in middle school.Every kid would sing along to the chorus because we all got to say a really bad curse word and get away with it.
So tonight I burned another loop off my chemo rings, leaving me with 4 more treatments. These are also accompanied by a CT Scan next week, an upcoming endoscopy, and a PET Scan after the last treatment. And as for hormone replacement therapy, I am opting out for now. So Osteoporosis and broken bones will be a concern for me now, but I will say to Osteoporosis what an angry teenage boy would say: "Come at me, bro."
Okay there was a point to mentioning the song. I swear!
Any-who....
Today was the first time I decided to do the loop burning ritual alone. Well, the whole time I kept hearing the song The Roof is on Fire in my head. However, I had strategically replaced the word "roof" with the word "loop".
So for those of you unfamiliar with the song, here are the new and improved lyrics:
"The loop, the loop, the loop is on fire
We don't need no water
Let the mother$&#er burn
Burn mother&$#er, burn"
I don't want to take away from such a moving song, but I'd like to end with a little more substance. So I will end with a baby (I mean this blog is technically about her!) and a quote from Carl Sandburg (He's awesome too, but nowhere near as cute as my Sam).
Goodnight and I'm happy to say the hot flash distraction worked.
